GUANGZHOU, CHINA, November 25, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The opening ceremony and art performances of the 2022 Guangzhou Summer Citizens Art Festival on the theme "Bright Stars Embracing the Future" (hereinafter referred to as the "2022 GSCAF") were held at the Guangzhou Opera House (GOH) and live-streamed on the National Public Cultural Cloud Platform on July 19. Lasting till December this year, the event consists of five sections and a thousand activities for citizens in the city.
As a brand event of mass culture in Guangzhou, the GSCAF has been developed for dozens of years and was granted the title National Cultural Innovation Project. The 2022 GSCAF, guided by the Publicity Department of the CPC Guangzhou Municipal Committee and organized by the Guangzhou Municipal Culture, Radio, Television and Tourism Bureau, centers on the theme "Demonstrate the Contemporary Spirit, Show the Style of the Greater Bay Area, Tell Stories of China".
It consists of five sections, namely the Amazing Citizens Art Shows, the Exciting Competitions, the Interesting Lingnan Culture, the Fascinating Fashion Classic, and the Absorbing Painting and Calligraphy Exhibition. Specifically, the Amazing Citizens Art Show demonstrates the outstanding citizen art achievements of all districts of the city in recent years.
"Date with Culture, Beautiful Communities—2022 Citizen Art Tour and Speeches" focuses on ecological civilization and rural revitalization. The "Fifth Children's Art Competition of Guangzhou on the theme 'Youth in Guangzhou Embracing the Future" combines both the policy of easing the burden of excessive homework and off-campus tutoring for students and public culture services. The High Art Appreciation Season on the theme "Approach Art" covers a series of activities for different groups, such as "Approach Ballet", "Approach Intangible Cultural Heritage", and "Approach Hip-hop". Meanwhile, "Approach Ancient Poems" will also be held to support the development of Guangzhou into a "City of Poems".
A majority of the art performances at the opening ceremony won national, provincial, and municipal awards. For instance, the children's choir of the ancient poem and nursery rhyme in Cantonese, Country Life in Spring, the adapted song in Canton Nanyin, True Lover's Knot, the group dance, Yingge & Hip-pop, the Quyi performance, Dream Comes True, the crosstalk, Laughters and Cheers, and the acrobatic performance, Eagle—Male Performance with a Single Pole offer audiences on-site and online an audio-visual feast. As a brand activity of citizen art in the city, the GSCAF will disseminate public culture to citizens and demonstrate a new cultural style of Guangzhou, while integrating resources in mass art activities across the city.
