Haltom United Business Alliance (HUBA) Hopes to Find Business-Friendly Candidates to Run in Upcoming City Elections

Business Alliance hopes to repair disconnect between elected officials and business community & gain influence to increase business development & revitalize South and Central Haltom City

Sturgeon recently started a campaign to Make Haltom City Thrive Again with a billboard on Highway 121.

HALTOM CITY, TX, January 03, 2023 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Haltom United Business Alliance Director of Communications Joe Palmer said, "In the first year of the alliance, we continued to tender ideas to the Haltom City Council concerning how to improve the business climate in our city."

Palmer added, "The ordinances the council are passing are hurting the ability to revitalize the declining corridors and preventing new businesses and development in those corridors. Such actions are holding the city back from getting a new grocery store or restaurants in these areas, and larger businesses such as CVS and Kroger have left."

"Unfortunately, after a year in which Haltom City Council never even acknowledged any of the ideas we submitted and watching them pass ordinances after workshops that the public was not allowed to participate in, we have concluded that we need new council members," said Palmer.

"The old council members are nice folks," said HUBA Founder Ron Sturgeon. "They just don't have any business experience and, frankly, don't even want to talk to members of the business community," he added.

Sturgeon recently started a campaign to Make Haltom City Thrive Again with a billboard on Highway 121. The billboard points to a website with a detailed plan to attract the private investment necessary to make the older corridors of Haltom bustle again. The billboard says, "Make Haltom City Thrive Again, Time for a Change."

Sturgeon made his fortune after starting his business in the city 50 years ago and is now committed to making sure the city makes the necessary improvements in its governance to prepare plans and execute them to bring the hundreds of millions in investment that is needed to revitalize the southern and central parts of the city. About Haltom City
Haltom City is a diverse, majority working-class city located between Dallas and Fort Worth in Tarrant County, TX. Haltom City is minutes from both the DFW Airport and Downtown Fort Worth with direct access to major highways including I-820 and SH-121. Due to an outdated and restrictive use matrix that discourages new business and deters growth, several areas of Haltom City have seen a decline in small businesses which provided goods and services and were a significant source of jobs, including the once-thriving automotive industry. However, Haltom City has the opportunity to reverse this trend and should prioritize development of inner-city land and vacant buildings, particularly in the major corridors close to the city's center. The city is financially healthy with a capable manager and staff who would like to see diverse business development occur and need the support of the City Council to make it happen.
