SAN DIEGO, CA, January 20, 2023 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Let the celebration begin! This weekend, celebrate Lunar New Year with folk and traditional performances, arts and cultural exhibitions, lion dances and firecrackers, and plenty of family fun activities for the kids. More importantly, the festival is inclusive and free.
Something to look for, an improving cultural village, total 20 cherry blossom trees 10 feet tall each, giant fruits & vegetables market, trail of 12 Asian zodiac, lot of lanterns, river with monkey bridge + a boat & lotus flowers, Kuan Yin oracle, 9-15 feet dragon dance streamers for activities, live entertainment special live with Heartbreaka, a Native San Diegan rapper, a great selection of Asian foods, and more. So mark your calendar and let the celebration begin!
2023 will mark an exciting milestone because it will also be the groundbreaking of the Boat People Garden, a community mini park to be built approximately one block from the festival site. This is your accomplishment because the proceeds from 2020, 2022, and this year, 2023, will be used for the construction of this park. Every little thing you do, mention the festival, post festival's info on your calendar, or simply attend the event with friends, all directly contribute to the success of the festival and directly make the Boat People Garden possible.
The Boat People Garden will be the first in an ongoing series of Little Saigon Revitalization Initiatives to redefine and transform public sidewalks and city streets into public gathering areas and reshaping the sidewalk experience. Increase in walkability will put more "eyes on the street" and therefore will increase safety and community vibrancy. More importantly, city parks provide residents with contact to nature, improve public health, and enhance well-being.
The health and well-being of the people are the foundation toward a healthy and vibrant community, and it begins with the 2023 SD Lunar New Year Festival. Let's make this another festival to remember and let's celebrate this tremendous progress together.
The Little Saigon Foundation of San Diego (LSF) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization whose mission is to develop the Little Saigon District of City Heights by revitalizing infrastructure in the community, promoting Vietnamese culture and tourism in the area, and engaging youth, residents, and businesses in civic responsibilities.
