GREENWICH, CT, January 25, 2023 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Steven A.R. Murphy, MD, has been recognized as a 2023 Castle Connolly Top Doctor — the ninth time he has received the Top Doctor honor. Only about 7 percent of the nation's licensed physicians are selected annually as Castle Connolly Top Doctors in their regions for their specialties.
Dr. Murphy is an internal medicine and obesity specialist who provides a variety of clinical services to men, women, and adolescents at Murphy Medical Associates, the Greenwich practice for which he is the concierge medicine specialist and clinical director. He hosts the podcast Murphy's Medicine, covering men's health, longevity, mental focus, and the importance of being a good dad, and Murphy's Medical Minute on YouTube.
He focuses his care on patients who wish to invest in their health to maximize longevity. His medical services range from routine executive medical and preventive care to chronic care management, weight loss, and cutting-edge genetic technology.
Dr. Murphy can evaluate a patient's blood vessel health through ultrasound scans and advanced blood testing at his lab.
As a long COVID specialist, Dr. Murphy is one of a handful of physicians in the United States who has been implementing recovery protocols since the beginning of the pandemic.
He treats conditions that include long COVID, ME/CFS, obesity, family cancer history, hormonal optimization, addiction disorders, asthma and allergies, ADHD, and heart disease.
Dr. Murphy has special interest in personalized medicine, genetics, weight-loss medicine, hereditary cancers, and adolescent care. He offers treatments that include monoclonal antibody therapy, vitamin therapy, and platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injections.
Dr. Murphy is certified by both the American Board of Internal Medicine and the American Board of Obesity Medicine.
"I provide comprehensive, bespoke medical care for patients who have diverse needs," Dr. Murphy says. "Most patients receive an hour-long first visit to assess their health needs including nutrition, stress, occupational risk assessment, and needs for longevity."
Outside of his practice, Dr. Murphy is an assistant professor at New York Medical College, with a primary appointment in the Department of Cell Biology and Anatomy and a secondary appointment in the Department of Medicine. He also serves as a Federal Aviation Administration senior aviation medical examiner and a U.S. civil surgeon.
Top Doctors are nominated by peer physicians and selected by the physician-led Castle Connolly research team.
"I am honored to be chosen by my peers for the ninth year. During the pandemic, we transformed to meet the needs of our community and this honor reflects the medical community's recognition of our hard work," Dr. Murphy says.
Dr. Murphy earned his medical degree at New York Medical College School of Medicine.
