SAVANNAH, GA, February 02, 2023 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. Mandy Grimshaw and her dental team at Kuhn Dental Associates were in attendance at the exclusice Airway Palooza Event, a two-day conference that focused on the education of airway conditions and treatment in children and adults. Many experts in the airway dentistry field were present. Those in attendance from Kuhn Dental Associates were Dr. Grimshaw, Ashley Owens, Jill Butler, Terri Gunter, Pat Newsome, Lydia Graham, Fabiana Whitley, Mary Hassell, Renate Yow, and Ashley Nall.
The two-day conference covered airway conditions and treatment in both children and adults. Topics related to the airway health of children included identifying kids with obstructive sleep apnea, tongue ties, airway obstruction, and underdevelopment of the maxilla and mandible. Key speakers also covered the growth and development of the craniofacial respiratory complex, myofunctional therapy and its role, and airway orthodontics.
Adult airway function was also a major part of the conference. One of the major topics discussed was the connection between TMD and compromised airways (obstructive sleep apnea.) The keynote speaker was James Nestor, an award-winning science journalist and author of Breath: The New Science of a Lost Art - which became an instant New York Times and London Sunday Times bestseller.
Dr. Grimshaw and her team at Kuhn Dental Associates currently offer temporomandibular joint dysfunction (TMD) and obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) treatment at their office in Aberdeen, North Carolina. The experienced staff at Kuhn Dental Associates are able to educate patients on the risk factors and symptoms of airway compromise in children and adults. Release tongue and lip ties are performed in-office as necessary. The practice is adding myofunctional therapy to its list of services sometime this year, and Kuhn Dental Associates hygienist, Mary Hassel, is being certified in myofunctional therapy beginning February 2023.
