LOS ANGELES, CA, August 04, 2023 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The Biddy Mason Charitable Foundation (BMCF) is celebrating a decade of service to foster youth in Los Angeles with its inaugural golf tournament and fundraiser on Monday, August 21, 2023. The event will be hosted at the popular Chester Washington Golf Course in West Athens, a preferred venue for many of the city's best Black golfers. Attendees can register at biddymason.com
Once an outreach ministry of First African Methodist Episcopal (FAME) Church in Los Angeles, today BMCF is an independent nonprofit elevating the lives of foster youth through innovative programs and collaborative initiatives with community partners. The organization was named in honor of formerly enslaved woman Biddy Mason, the "Grandmother of Los Angeles" who "Ten years ago, we had a shared vision to support lives impacted by the foster care system in LA," said Jackie Broxton, President, and CEO of BMCF. "Today, we have served more than 800 individuals through our programs and have awarded more than $300,000 in academic and vocational scholarships to help them succeed." The Golf Tournament will raise funds to provide current and former foster youth with critical life skills.
The event's Awards Luncheon will include a "Special Tribute to Legendary & World Golf Hall of Famer inductee Charlie Sifford, the first Black Golfer to play on the PGA Tour. Sifford's son, Charlies Sifford, Jr. will also be in attendance. The entertainment will be provided by producer-songwriter-performer Richard "88 Fingers" Turner Jr., organist, choir director, and musical director for smooth jazz sensation saxophonist Eric Darius. Award-winning radio personality Pat Prescott, former host of 94.7 The Wave and current host of popular jazz station "Favorite Things with Pat Prescott," will serve as Host for the Awards Luncheon.
Also supporting the event is Kim Estes, Emmy Award Winner Actor who is always willing to support organizations that empower others. Kim received the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Actor in a Short Form Comedy or Drama Series - 2017 - "Dicks" His television credits include. "How To Get Away With Murder". "I'm Dying Up Here". "Brooklyn 99", "Hot Wet American Summer 10 Years Later". "Pitch,". "The Real O'Neals,". "Secrets and Lies," and much more.
"BMCF remains a group of 'promise keepers' who listen to those who have been impacted by foster care and design programming to fit their needs. About Pat Prescott
Pat Prescott is a radio veteran whose career started at WYLD FM in New Orleans. She held various positions in her 23-year run in New York at WRVR, WBLS, WLIB, and CD 101.9. For 21 years, Pat was the host for the morning show on 94.7 The Wave Los Angeles where she co-hosted for 6 years with singer-songwriter Brain Mc Knight. She is now the host of Favorite Things With Patt Prescott on the legendary jazz station WBGO in Newark, New Jersey.
Pat is a popular voice artist whose voice can be heard in commercials for the Hollywood Bowl, on documentary programs, and on NPF station KCRW. She was the winner of R&R's Smooth Jazz Personality of the Year award for six consecutive years and was honored with the Alliance for Women in Radio and Television's Genii Award. She is also the producer and host of the 20-part social justice program Justice Now. Pat is active in the community and has received numerous awards and commendations for her contributions.

Kim has served on various not-for-profit boards including, but not limited to, The Salvation Army and the CSU California Maritime Foundation. He has been the director of the Long Beach Boys & Girls Clubs for over 25 years.
