Candid Life Entertainment to Partner with Screenwriter David-Matthew Barnes

    YOUNGSTOWN, OH, October 13, 2023 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Committed to creating films with strong messages that are both entertaining and thought-provoking, Candid Life Entertainment has announced a collaboration with award-winning screenwriter David-Matthew Barnes. Recently, the Ohio-based film production company has brought 12 short films, two feature films, and a documentary to the screen. Founded by director, producer, writer, and cinematographer Adam Michael, Candid Life Entertainment has optioned four of Barnes' projects, including the short horror script Baby Cindy, which has generated industry interest after receiving awards at seventeen film festivals.

"Partnering with David-Matthew is honestly a dream come true for me as a filmmaker," says Adam Michael. "He is someone who has a vision and executes the story at the absolute highest level. His characters are always so fleshed out and the stories flow in a way that feels natural and approachable. As a filmmaker, it is the most ideal type of partnership."

David-Matthew Barnes, who is a graduate of the Professional Program in Screenwriting at UCLA, has written eight produced screenplays to date, including the coming-of-age indie drama Frozen Stars (starring Lana Parrilla) and the award-winning short film Wagon, directed by Dutch filmmaker Coen Haver. He is the author of fifteen novels and more than seventy stage plays that have been produced in twelve countries in three languages.

In addition to Baby Cindy, Candid Life Entertainment will be producing the film adaptation of Barnes' bestselling young adult novel Mesmerized, his popular stage play Better Places to Go, and his female-centric feature film script Willa Cather Would Not Approve. Production on all four projects is scheduled over the next two years.
