MEDIA, PA, November 29, 2023 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The Pennsylvania Institute of Technology is hosting an informative event on opioid use prevention and treatment. The event aims to inform the community about the effects of opioids, treating addiction, reducing stigma, and finding resources for treatment. The event will take place on Saturday, December 2nd at the Pennsylvania Institute of Technology Theater located at 800 Manchester Ave, in Media, PA.
The event offers a unique opportunity for attendees to learn from a diverse panel of speakers, including representatives from Mirmont Treatment Center, MVP Recovery, a researcher from The University of Delaware specializing in the crisis, a representative of Shevlin Family Foundation, and individuals who have personally experienced opioid use and recovery.
In addition to expert speakers, attendees will have the chance to learn life-saving skills. Trained instructors from the Pennsylvania Institute of Technology will demonstrate how to administer Narcan, a medication used to reverse the effects of an opioid overdose. Attendees will also learn where to obtain doses of Narcan that can potentially save lives. Free Narcan kits and Fentanyl Test Strips will be distributed to community members who attend the event.
The event will take place from 2:00 - 4:00 pm and will include engaging discussions, snacks, and a chance to connect with fellow community members. The opioid crisis affects everyone, and it is essential for the community to come together, be aware, and be educated. By attending this event, attendees will gain valuable insights, learn life-saving skills, and join forces with their neighbors to combat this significant problem.
