SALT LAKE CITY, UT, December 27, 2023 /24-7PressRelease/ -- CHOICE Humanitarian announces that its co-founders, James Mayfield and Timothy Evans, have been honored with the prestigious Labor and Honor Award from Utah Philanthropy Day and the Labor and Honor Foundation. This recognition comes as a testament to their unwavering commitment to humanitarian service and their impact on global poverty alleviation.
Since 1999, the Association of Fundraising Professionals Utah Chapter, the Utah Nonprofits Association, and UServeUtah have celebrated outstanding philanthropists and volunteer leaders. Eight prestigious awards, along with the Labor and Honor Award, recognize the various components of the critical nexus between visionary, supportive philanthropy and thriving, creative nonprofit organizations. Award recipients are honored at the annual Utah Philanthropy Day Luncheon, which took place November 2023 in Salt Lake City.
"This award is not a reflection of individual effort but the collective spirit of all who support CHOICE's mission," said Jim Mayfield. "It's about the power of people coming together to make a lasting difference in the world. Together, we can create a ripple effect of sustainable change as we continue this journey of reducing global poverty with transformative results."
Tim Evans, echoing Mayfield's sentiments, added, "Every hand that has reached out in support and every volunteer who has stepped into the field shares in this accolade. It's a symbol of hope and the incredible things we can accomplish with unity and compassion."
"It is with great admiration and respect that we recognize Jim and Tim with the Labor and Honor Award as part of Utah Philanthropy Day," said Natalie Okeson, executive director of the Labor and Honor Foundation. "These two philanthropic leaders exemplify the true spirit of community and service, having dedicated decades to improving the lives of those living in devastating poverty throughout the world. Their work transcends the ordinary, and they've built a legacy of compassion and service that inspires us all."
The Utah Philanthropy Day celebration further recognized the extraordinary contributions of CHOICE Humanitarian volunteers Benjamin Benson, Caroline Hill, and Joanne Searcy, who received the Heart & Hands Award. Their dedication to the organization's cause symbolizes the essence of volunteerism and community service that Utah Philanthropy Day aims to highlight.
"We are proud to celebrate our inspiring co-founders and the generosity of our volunteers," shared Bret Backman, acting CEO of CHOICE Humanitarian. "CHOICE's four decades of impact would not be possible without the visionary leadership of Jim and Tim. Their selfless service and commitment to excellence not only uplifts our mission but sets a precedent for the entire non-profit sector. Receiving these recognitions for Jim, Tim, and our passionate volunteers is a testament that every person can make a difference in helping rural and underserved communities expand their range of options, foster self-reliance, and reduce poverty."
CHOICE Humanitarian extends its gratitude to Utah Philanthropy Day and the Labor and Honor Foundation for these distinctions. In addition, CHOICE appreciates all its supporters and volunteers who continue to strive for a world where everyone has the opportunity for a better quality of life.
