Clinton Hill Artist Sadikisha Saundra Collier's Exhibition JOURNEY Celebrates African-American Family And Culture

    BROOKLYN, NY, January 11, 2024 /24-7PressRelease/ -- African Voices is thrilled to announce the opening of "Journey," a mesmerizing art exhibition showcasing the works of renowned artist Sadikisha Saundra Collier. This compelling collection, described as "a celebration and reflection of family, culture, and the African American experience," invites art enthusiasts to embark on a sensory-rich voyage through Ms. Collier's diverse and thought-provoking creations.

The exhibition's grand opening will take place on Saturday, January 27, 2024, at 3 pm, at the African Voices Gallery at 325 Lafayette Ave. in Clinton Hill, Brooklyn. Join us in celebrating the artist and her expressive journey, filled with vibrant colors, immersive narratives, and a profound connection to the culture. Sadikisha will also share some of her poetry at the reception and sign copies of African Voices' Summer/Fall 2023 issue, which features her work on the front cover.

About the artist:

Sadikisha Saundra Collier, a native of Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn, is a distinguished multi-media artist celebrated for her mastery in printmaking, painting, collage, computer graphics, and stained glass. With a profound commitment to reflecting African American culture, womanhood, and personal storytelling through her work, Collier holds a Masters in Education from Cambridge College and a Bachelor of Fine Arts. Her art, housed in collections of luminaries like Ed Bradley and Whitney Houston, has earned her recognition as a finalist in MTA Arts for Transit projects, a producer at Bric Cable network, and the President of NY's Fulton Art Fair (2011-2014).

African Voices is supported, in part, by Council members Farah Louis (35 C.D.) and Crystal Hudson (45 C.D.), the National Endowment for the Arts, New York State Council on the Arts, NYC Dept. of Cultural Affairs, Amazon Partnerships-CLMP and private donors.

Founded in 1992, African Voices is a nonprofit arts organization devoted to showcasing art, literature, and films by artists of color. African Voices publishes a literary magazine and presents literary readings, art exhibitions, and artistic workshops throughout NYC. The organization sponsors Reel Sisters of the Diaspora Film Festival & Lecture Series, the first Oscar-qualifying film festival in the nation devoted to women of color (www.reelsisters.org).
