Phillip W. Price Nominated for Georgia Author of the Year For Self Rescue Nominated In The Category of Detective/Mystery

Book Is Price's Latest in The Daniel Byrd Thriller Series

    CANTON, GA, March 01, 2024 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Phillip W. Price has been nominated for the Georgia Author of the Year Award for Self Rescue (ISBN 978-1-6653-0648-5, Lanier Press, 2023). He was nominated in the category of detective/mystery fiction. Self Rescue is the latest in the thrilling Daniel Byrd series by Price which follows the exploits of Daniel Byrd, a Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) agent. The book is available in paperback and Kindle versions.

Self Rescue is set in Georgia, primarily in Cherokee, Pickens, Polk, and Ben Hill counties, as well as, El Paso, TX, and Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico. The book follows a group of smugglers run by a former CIA contract officer who currently runs a counterterrorism camp in South Georgia. This group brings crystal meth from the Texas/Mexican border under the noses of law enforcement to Georgia, there to be distributed across the eastern United States to fund their activities. They seem untouchable until Daniel Byrd gets on the case.

The Georgia Author of the Year Awards celebrates the best literature by Georgia writers. Georgia Writers Association assumed responsibility for the Georgia Author of the Year Awards (GAYA) shortly after its founding in 1994. The awards were first given in 1964 by the Dixie Council of Authors and Journalists. Published authors from Georgia are eligible for nomination. Awards in a variety of categories are announced and presented in June at the GAYA ceremony.

Phillip W. Price began his law enforcement career in 1974 at the age of 19. In 1978 Price was hired by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) as a Special Agent. Price served in various capacities with the GBI. Price retired as a Special Agent in Charge (SAC) in 2006.

In 2010 Price was hired to lead the Cherokee Multi-Agency Narcotics Squad. Price re-retired on December 17, 2021.

Price has an Associate in Arts Degree from Reinhardt University, a Bachelor of Science Degree from North Georgia University, and a Masters in Public Administration from Columbus State University.

He is the author of the Daniel Byrd thriller series – Mountain Justice, A Little Bit Kin, and now Self Rescue.
