/24-7PressRelease/ - PROVIDENCE, RI, June 01, 2008 - Plants aren't the only things turning green this spring. The Renaissance Providence Hotel, an upscale, full-service hotel affiliated with the Marriott portfolio of branded luxury hotels, has received a Green Certification from the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management in conjunction with the Rhode Island Hospitality and Tourism Association on Earth Day.
The Green Certification recognizes the Renaissance Providence Hotel for excellence in voluntarily abiding by green performance standards, implementing best management practices, and complying with environmental regulatory requirements. The hotel is among nearly a dozen in the state that received the certification at the ceremony that took place on Earth Day.
"The Renaissance Providence Hotel is proud to be recognized for the initiatives we have taken to become a green luxury destination in Providence," says Angelo De Peri, general manager of the Renaissance Providence Hotel in Rhode Island. "Moving forward, we will strive to find additional innovative ways to be environmentally conscious while providing quality service to our customers."
Throughout construction and since its opening last year, the Renaissance Providence Hotel has taken many steps to be eco-friendly. The hotel installed energy-efficient windows and light fixtures, as well as water-conserving faucets, throughout the hotel. By using only Green Seal certified cleaning products, the hotel has been committed to using biodegradable detergents and cleaning supplies. One of the hotel's largest environmentally conscious initiatives is found in all of their Providence accommodations, where biodegradable liquid soap, shampoo and hair conditioner can be used by guests every day.
