"Being a part of this day and discussing the formation of the Military Advisory Task Force under the Chamber is the beginning of my not-for profit service for this Nation," said Mr. Kauderer.
Wednesday's event is part of the Army Reserve's 100th Anniversary celebration which is taking place in cities across the country throughout 2008.
On April 23, 1908, Congress created the Medical Reserve Corps, later renamed the Army Reserve, from a group of 160 doctors formed to provide the nation with a reservoir of trained medical officers in times of war. Over the past century, the Army Reserve has significantly expanded upon this successful model that leverages civilian skills and patriotism.
Since its founding, the Army Reserve has served with excellence and honor in every major U.S. military and humanitarian engagement, playing integral roles in World War I, World War II, Korea, Vietnam, the Cold War, Panama, the Persian Gulf, Somalia, Haiti, Bosnia, Kosovo, the Iraq War and the Global War on Terrorism. Today, more than ever, the Army Reserve is an integral part of the world's best Army. Reserve Soldiers form the backbone of the United States military, providing specialized-skill rich services including civil affairs, engineering, transportation and medicine.
