/24-7PressRelease/ - LOUISVILLE, KY, June 08, 2008 - The Forecastle Festival is proud to announce that Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., well-known environmental attorney and activist, will deliver the keynote address at the seventh annual event, July 25 - 27 at the Riverfront Belvedere in Louisville, Kentucky. Kennedy will speak at 2:30 PM on Sunday, July 27th. His appearance is being sponsored by the UPS Foundation and The Olmsted Parks Conservancy.
Kennedy, named by Time Magazine as one of the "Heroes of the Planet" for his successful efforts to clean up the Hudson River, currently serves as Chief Prosecuting Attorney for the Hudson Riverkeeper organization, as well as president of The Waterkeeper Alliance. He is also a clinical professor and supervising attorney at the Pace University School of Law's Environmental Litigation Clinic and is co-host of the environmentally-programmed Ring of Fire show on Air America Radio.
"His appearance adds a massive amount of legitimacy to the organizations and causes we've been fighting for these past seven years," says festival founder and producer JK McKnight.
In keeping with the strong environmental focus, Forecastle plans to include two stages powered exclusively by solar energy - one of the first major festivals in the Midwest to do so. Additionally, over fifty environmental groups from the festival's (10) Midwest participating cities will exhibit at the event, along with panels, speakers, and an environmental film showcase.
Tickets for Sunday admission are $18 in advance ($21 on-site) and are available via TicketWeb, Ticketmaster, and select independent record stores, including ear X-tacy Records in Louisville, CD Central in Lexington, Euclid Records in St. Louis, Grimey's in Nashville, Indy CD & Vinyl in Indianapolis, Landlocked Records in Bloomington, and Shake-It Records in Cincinnati.
