Florence L. Thompson Inducted into Cambridge Who's Who Executive, Professional and Entrepreneurial Registry

    /24-7PressRelease/ - Philadelphia, PA, July 31, 2008, Dr. Florence L. Thompson, Reading Specialist for the School District of Philadelphia, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in all aspects of teaching reading.

With 35 years of professional experience, Dr. Thompson specializes in helping children with reading difficulties and is responsible for teaching reading for kindergarten through third-grade students, assisting teachers, and assessing and conducting tests. She stays current with the trends in her profession by reading Focus Newspaper and considers being able to help and assist one of her students to begin her reading by referring a dictionary to be the most fulfilling aspect of her career. She believes that the most important issue facing her profession today is keeping students interested and engaged in reading.

A certified elementary education teacher (K-6) and reading specialist, Dr. Thompson received her Doctorate Degree in Reading, plus 60 credits, from Gratz College, her Master of Science in Education from Marywood University and her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from the State Teachers College at Cheyney. She volunteers with the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation and hopes to work with the literacy program and teach adults in the future.
