Nashville Airport Marriott Supports Local Soldiers Deployed to Iraq

    /24-7PressRelease/ - NASHVILLE, TN, August 10, 2008 - The Nashville Airport Marriott is joining together with seven other Marriott hotels in the Nashville area to support local soldiers deployed to Iraq. The hotels are providing a combined $2,500 contribution for commemorative service medals for each veteran.

The Army veterans serve in the 327th Battalion of the 101st Airborne Division, based at Fort Campbell located near Clarksville, Tennessee. The soldiers are currently expected to return home in December 2008.

A major area of focus for Marriott Business Councils around the world is to finds ways to give back to their communities. Joining with the seven other Marriott branded properties in Nashville, the Nashville Airport Marriott actively works to support the Council's Community Relations Committee in outreach activities.

The Nashville Airport Hotel's Area General Manager, Shannon Bowles, will join the president of the Marriott Business Council, Dennis Barber of the Residence Inn Nashville Airport, in presenting the check to the 327th Battalion's Rear Detachment Commander this month.

"We are extremely proud of our local soldiers and wanted to find a way to give back to those in our community that loyally serve our country," explains Bowles. "Raising the funds for these medallions is the least we could do to help recognize those who have sacrificed so much. These medallions will be presented to the soldiers of the 327th Battalion at a Grand Ball celebration when the soldiers return from their deployment."
