/24-7PressRelease/ - June 07, 2005 - In a recent press release, RAWSISTAZ announced the keynote speakers for The RAWSISTAZ Affair 2005, to be held September 16-18, 2005 in Atlanta, Georgia at the Sheraton Midtown Atlanta Hotel at Colony Square. Now, the final days of the early bird rate (extended thru June 9th) are approaching, so don't delay. Sign up for this much talked about literary celebration of readers and writers; installment plans are available.
In addition to the keynotes already announced (Travis Hunter, Pearl Cleage, and Victoria Christopher Murray), there will be 30 other featured authors who have written in genres ranging from contemporary fiction, Christian fiction, street fiction, romance, horror and across the spectrum. Amongst the authors who have already signed up to attend are: Alisha Yvonne, Janet West Sellars, Electa Rome Parks, Tina McKinney, J.L. Woodson, Kimberly Morton Cuthrell, Naleighnai Kai, Joel McIver, Candice Dow, Kendra Norman-Bellamy, and Nea Anna Simone. We're also anticipating the participation of Donna Hill, Freddie Lee Johnson, Margaret Johnson-Hodge, Carl Weber, J.D. Mason, and possibly even of our keynotes from last year, Zane.
This event, conducted annually, is a venue for literary professionals and booklovers alike to gain access to self-published, small-press, mainstream and aspiring authors in a non-formal, relaxed setting through panel discussions, book-signings, author readings and literary workshops. As always, our goal is to bring readers and writers together to celebrate and promote African-American literature.
Scheduled events include an Ole' School Party/Meet and Greet on Friday night, the Author Extravaganza (30+ author book-signing), which is open to the public, on Saturday, followed by a Literary Banquet Saturday night. RAWSISTAZ was established in September 2000 and is committed to the support and promotion of books by, for and about African Americans. RAWSISTAZ currently has approximately 300 members from across the country, a review team called The RAWSISTAZ Reviewers, and local chapters in eight major cities. RAWSISTAZ is an organization that is making an impact on the literary world and continues to strive to promote literature in a positive, uplifting way.
