NEW YORK, NY September 27, 2008 /24-7PressRelease/ -- From airtime to stage time. On Sunday October 5th at 8:30 pm at Gotham Comedy Club in New York City, the 3rd Annual New York's Funniest Reporter Show (www.nyfunniestreporter.com) will take place. It will feature nine of NY's bravest reporters putting their reputations on the line in a stand up comedy competition that raises money for Operation Uplink (www.operationuplink.org) - a charity that supports U.S. Troops and their families.
"Public speaking is one thing but, to do stand up comedy takes a unique individual with incredible courage. It's extremely challenging not to mention scary especially for someone who's never done it before," said Executive Producer & New York Underground Comedy Festival Publicist, Ryan McCormick. "However, leave it to New York Journalists to stare down fear and toss their egos aside for the sake of helping our Troops. They're doing something truly commendable."
Appearing on the show will be: Ellis Henican (Fox News & Newsday), Cat Greenleaf (NBC), Wendy Gillette (CBS), Alison Rosen (Page Six Magazine), Rob Hoell (CW11), Debbie Nigro (FirstWivesWorld.com), Heather Kovar (New12), Sean L. McCarthy (Comics Comic), and Robert George (New York Post).
Headlining the event will be Adam Ferrara, one of today's leading comedic talents and a regular on FX's hit series "Rescue Me," playing Chief "Needles" Nelson. Ferrara has received two American Comedy Award nominations for Best Stand-Up and two "Comedy Central Presents" half-hour specials. His other television appearances include multiple appearances on Comedy Central, as well as "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno," "The Late Show with David Letterman," "The View," "Politically Incorrect," "The Rosie O'Donnell Show," and "The Late Late Show with Craig Kilborn." Adam has also been a featured performer at the Comedy Central Roasts of Rob Reiner and Denis Leary.
Adam performed for all 48 of the Democratic Senators at the annual Caucus (with special guest Bill Clinton). Adam was delayed in traffic on the way to the event. Later that evening, Adam was quoted as saying, "I've waited this long for healthcare, now, they can wait for me."
Judging the competition will be Laurel Touby (Founder & Senior Vice President of mediabistro.com), Tasha Harris (Founder & Editor-In-Chief of StageTime Magazine), Dylan Gadino (Founder & Editor-In-Chief of Punchline Magazine), and Todd Jackson (Editor of Dead-Frog).
The cost of admission is $15 plus a two-drink minimum. To make a reservation, please call (212) 367-9000.
