LONDON, ENGLAND, October 23, 2008 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Jenefer Yeung, Lead Research Consultant, from fhios, was invited to join a group of professional judges from various sectors across the Tourism industry for the 'Tourism ExSEllence Awards 2008' event which is hosted and organised by Tourism South East. The award ceremony will be held on the 28 October 2008.
Amongst 16 award categories, fhios was responsible for reviewing 13 websites who were challenging for the 'Tourism Website of the Year' award. This award acknowledges the huge importance of the Internet within the Tourism industry.
fhios' expertise in user experience allowed Jenefer to evaluate the websites, focusing on Ease of Use, Innovation, Accessibility, Customer Service, Creative Design, Business and Marketing Objectives. An engaging and usable Tourism website should offer a simple and clear navigation structure, accurate information i.e. entry fees, opening times, transport information, rich imagery, interactive features including maps, inspirational suggestions regarding activities to do, active links to other external websites for further information, online booking facilities as well as online support, and meet accessibility standards. By conducting heuristic evaluations taking into account this criteria, fhios presented a summative evaluation for each website and short listed 4 sites in particular that provide engaging and good user experience.
Jenefer has extensive experience in Human Computer Interaction research and consultancy with many years experience working with high profile clients within the Travel and Tourism industry. She has successfully completed research projects across Europe, Asia and Latin America.
