BOLDON, UK, October 26, 2008 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Despite their disappointing early exit from the X Factor, North East favourites Bad Lashes have pledged not to give up their dreams of pop stardom. As the ladies prepare for their first post-contest live show in Newcastle this weekend, bookmaker Pagebet is offering odds on chart success for the feisty foursome.
With talk of a cover of the Oasis hit Wonderwall already in the offing, fans can now put their money where their mouth is, with odds of 25/1 on Bad Lashes to score a top ten hit before Christmas 2009.
"Like everyone in the North East, we were gutted that Bad Lashes fell at the first hurdle, but after seeing how keen they are to carry on we thought it would be fun to give fans this opportunity," said Steve Cookson, official X Factor trader at Durham-based Pagebet. "The girls have built up a big following in a very short time and this is one bet that nobody at Pagebet would be sad to pay out on."
Fans can also have a bet on any one of the band members reaching the top six in next year's X Factor contest as a solo artist. Rated at 33/1, this would sadly mean a split in the fantastic four, but with X Factor tours beckoning and further performances planned for the North East, everyone at Pagebet is hoping they won't have to stump up for this one.
"At 33/1, Bad Lashes were always outsiders to win the contest, but they certainly have something about them and they're determined to succeed, so who knows," added Steve. "Where X Factor is concerned, all our hopes for a Geordie win now rest with Cheryl Cole, who has some real talent in the girls' category."
The Bad Lashes bets can be found alongside Pagebet's other X Factor specials, online or at the company's network of retail outlets across the region, including its recently opened flagship branch in Grainger Street, Newcastle.
