MANCHESTER, ENGLAND, November 14, 2008 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Next month you have the chance to see some of the globe's greatest tennis players in action, as BlackRock Masters Tennis returns to the English capital between December 2nd and 7th.
The event helps a number of charities since it began in 1997 and has worked to support Great Ormond Street Hospital, Anthony Nolan Trust, the British Tennis Foundation's Dan Maskell Tennis Trust and the Theodora Children's Trust.
One of the most prestigious tournaments on the international tennis calendar, the event is a great deal of fun and is also fiercely competitive, with world-class players vying for pride and bragging rights against the backdrop on the iconic Royal Albert Hall.
An amazing line-up is guaranteed as a result of the event's qualification criteria. Players must have previously been a singles player on a winning Davis Cup team, a singles finalist in a Grand Slam Championship or have previously been ranked number one in the world.
Confirmed competitors for this year's event include John McEnroe, Goran Ivanisevic, Pete Sampras, Pat Cash, Stefan Edberg, Mansour Bahrami and Henri Leconte.
One of the most recent participants to confirm their attendance is Greg Rusedski - and it seems he may have his eye on beating Pete Sampras this year.
"Pete was a guy that I only managed to beat once, but it would be great to beat him a second time, especially as this event is in London," Greg Rusedski said.
If you decide to venture down to the tournament and are in need of tickets visit the official BlackRock Masters website. Here you find more information on the times of play and how to get to the venue.
