LEWES, DE, November 27, 2008 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Debra Puglisi Sharp, Registered Nurse, Author and Inspirational Speaker, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in all aspects of victim advocacy.
After surviving a nightmarish ordeal involving the murder of her husband and her subsequent rapes and kidnapping, Ms. Puglisi Sharp has dedicated her life to raising awareness and advocating for victims of sex crimes. Her book, Shattered: Reclaiming a Life Torn Apart by Violence, was published in 2003 and describes her ordeal. The book has gained notoriety nationally, as the power of Ms. Puglisi-Sharp's message is undeniable. Since surviving her abduction in 1998, Ms. Puglisi Sharp conducts programs and gives inspirational and informational lectures for victims of violence and rape. She speaks to law enforcement agencies as well, increasing sexual assault awareness and providing law enforcement personnel with a rare chance to hear such a startling account. Additionally, she has served on the 911 Enhancement Board in Delaware for five years.
Ms. Puglisi Sharp received her Associate Degree in Nursing from the Delaware Technical and Community College. She has lectured for the Crime Law Enforcement Network of the Mid-Atlantic Great Lakes, is a member of the Criminal Justice Advisory Board of Wilmington University and is a volunteer at the Delaware Contact Lifeline Rape Crisis. She is on the board of directors for the National Coalition for Victims in Action. Recently, Ms. Puglisi Sharp's story was covered on the A&E series I Survived.
