The Christmas Markets Arrive in London Kicking Off The Start of The Festive Season!

LateRooms.com can reveal that the historic Frost Fair London which is 401 years old is due to start next month. The fair will offer over 30 stalls providing a range Christmas crafts to jewelery.

MANCHESTER, ENGLAND, November 30, 2008 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The Frost Fair Winter Market is once again being held in London this year. This fair features a lantern parade on the 12th in which 270 local school children will display their handcrafted lanterns outside the Tate Modern gallery. Over 30 stalls will be set up for the event, offering handmade jewelery, ceramics and various other Christmassy crafts.

Meanwhile, on December 13th - a procession of traditional Thames Cutters will set off from Millennium Bridge at 11:00 GMT carrying Frost Fair flags along the river.
Set up in 1607 - the Frost Fair was originally created to take advantage of the exceptionally cold winters when the River Thames would freeze over and revellers would enjoy a range of winter events. Back then, however, the fair was considerably more treacherous than it is today - with many winter enthusiasts falling through the ice and drowning!

Celebrating its 401st year - this year's Frost Fair will also offer a range of live music and evening entertainment, including choir groups, brass and steel bands and a host of other sights to see.

Furthermore, Bankside Winter Festival will be running until December 21st, which will include a number of guided tours around the Winter Market where individuals will be able to do some last minute Christmas shopping.

Individuals heading to London over the Christmas period might be interested to learn that they can head along to the festive event on the 12th and 13th of December.
