RIDGELAND, MS, December 03, 2008 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Vampires and werewolves aren't the typical fare for readers of Christian fiction but novelist Sue Dent continues to break down established conventions with the upcoming release of Forever Richard (The Writers' Cafe Press). "Already the response to Forever Richard's January 2009 release is overwhelmingly positive," reports publisher Cynthia Mackinnon of The Writers' Cafe Press, "The first print run is close to selling out . . . with preorders alone!" Forever Richard will be released one month from today, on January 5th, 2009.
Sue Dent's intended audience for Forever Richard and its predecessor Never Ceese was the general market but because of her beliefs, naturally it was written from a worldview respectful of Christian values. And, Christian readers have overwhelmingly embraced it. "I was never more surprised than when reviews started coming in from readers of a market whose publishers wouldn't give [the books] a second thought," says Dent. Top 1000 Amazon Reviewer Jake Chism noted, "It's a shame that major CBA publishers aren't willing to pursue more "outside the box" fiction like Never Ceese."
Fans of Never Ceese, which was shortlisted for a 2007 Bram Stoker Award, have indicated their excitement for the pending release of Forever Richard. From BookLoons Review, "I'll be watching eagerly for the sequel, Forever Richard." Books n Bytes reviewer writes, "I am anxiously awaiting the sequel to Never Ceese, Forever Richard." "I guess I know what book to add to my Christmas list," states popular CBA affiliated Christian speculative fiction author Eric Wilson.
Ms Dent's fans will be happy to learn of the British Fantasy Society's endorsement from their reviewer Maryann Boo, "Insightful and thought provoking. Well worth the wait!"
Forever Richard's main vampire and werewolf characters, Richard and Ceese Porter, finally have their curses lifted and after spending hundreds of years apart, they can now celebrate being family once more. But Dr. Henderson, the stem cell researcher hungry for the blood of one cursed, and Zade, the werewolf obsessed with Ceese stand in the way of their happiness, and their lives. Will the faith that saved them be enough to defeat the new evil that threatens? The redemption vampire and werewolf sought, and now have, may not really be what they want, or need.
The official launch site for Forever Richard is Shoutlife.com, a social network with a membership of over 100,000 and favorite spot of many Sue Dent readers. "[Shoutlife's] support has been phenomenal," Dent says. "I couldn't think of a better site from which to launch Forever Richard."
Sue Dent graduated from Mississippi College and now markets and writes full time. She's become an outspoken advocate for opening up the Christian fiction market to recognize those writers who qualify as Christian novelists but don't exactly appeal to the very specific audience Christian fiction is written for.
