Hoseasons Reports September Bookings Up 25% - Despite Economic and Travel Industry Turmoil

    NORFOLK, ENGLAND, December 05, 2008 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The company is reporting a 42% increase in hits on its website during September so far (up to 16th September) compared with September 2007 - and despite economic uncertainty, this has translated into a 25% increase in bookings. There has been a similar increase in bookings taken through its Call Centre.

Hoseasons says that holidaymakers are seeking to escape the bad news by taking an autumn break, and that the turmoil in the European package market, coupled with good September weather, is benefiting the UK market.

"With all the bad news there has been in the last two weeks, you might have expected a degree of caution and a slow-down in both enquiries and bookings," said Hoseasons Business Development Director Pali Badwal. "But in fact we have seen the opposite.

"What this shows is that there is still an appetite to get away, perhaps to escape that very doom and gloom. But customers are looking for value for money and security - in uncertain times, and with report after report of failing holiday companies, they are staying closer to home and seeking out breaks which are affordable.

"After a mediocre summer in terms of weather, the UK is finally enjoying some sunshine, and that is also boosting bookings for domestic holidays. We believe that some people have waited until after the peak school holiday period to get lower prices, and we are seeing a lot of bookings for holidays starting in the next month - the continuation of a trend we have seen throughout 2008."
