Complementary and Alternative Medicine Author and Richard Brown, M.D., Leads "Breath, Body, Mind" Seminar December 13, 2008

Dr. Richard Brown, an expert on holistic approaches to psychiatry, and co-author of the new WW Norton book HOW TO USE HERBS, NUTRIENTS, AND YOGA FOR MENTAL HEALTH CARE, will lead a seminar in movement, breath practices, and Open Focus meditation on December 13, 2008 in New Paltz, New York.



    LOS ANGELES, CA, December 10, 2008 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Richard P. Brown, MD, co-author of the new book HOW TO USE HERBS, NUTRIENTS, AND YOGA FOR MENTAL HEALTH CARE (WW Norton, January 2009), and internationally renowned pioneer of CAM (Complementary and Alternative Medicine), will lead a seminar entitled "Breath~Body~Mind", Saturday, December 13, 2008, from 2 pm to 6 pm at the Stone Mountain Counseling Center, 310 River Road Extension, in New Paltz, New York. His seminar includes movement, breath practices, and Open Focus meditation.

Dr. Brown is Associate Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at Columbia University in New York. He is a certified teacher of Aikido (4th Dan), Yoga, Qi Gong, and meditation. Dr. Brown developed a neurophysiological theory on the effects of yoga breath on the mind and body, particularly its benefits for stress, anxiety, depression, and trauma.

Dr. Brown is an expert on holistic approaches to psychiatry, including the use of supplements such as SAM-e and Rhodiola Rosea and and mind-body practices. He co-authored The Rhodiola Revolution and Stop Depression Now. Dr. Brown maintains a practice in New York City.

Stone Mountain Counseling Center in New Paltz, NY, opened in 1996 by Stephen Larsen, PhD, offers psychotherapy and biofeedback for patients, and training for students and professionals. Larsen, the Center's Director, is an award-winning author (The Fundamentalist Mind: How Polarized Thinking Imperils Us All) and Psychology Professor Emeritus from SUNY Ulster, New York.
