BOISE, IDAHO, January 14, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- On Friday, Employers Resource CEO George Gersema appeared on Money for Breakfast, a business morning show hosted by Alexis Glick on the Fox Business Network. The panel discussion revolved around the plight of employers and employees in the current recession.
When asked how Idaho managed to fare better than other states thus far, Gersema credited Idaho's conservative legislature, and a diverse economy.
"We have a very conservative legislature in the state of Idaho. And they do not spend more than they take in, they live within their means. We don't have the tremendous crushing debt... So number one, I think Idaho has learned to live within its means, and number two, I think the diversification of our economy, which is agriculture. It's high-tech, it's tourism, it's manufacturing. I think that broad diversification gave us a leg up as we went into this mess."
