BALTIMORE, MD, February 06, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Multinational Development of Women in Technology (MDWIT) will host Maryland's third Women and Technology Forum on Thursday, March 12, 2009 at the BWI Airport Marriott in Linthicum, Maryland from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
This year's event, Women: Leading the Future of Technology is open to women and men technology business owners, including CEOs of manufacturing, biotechnology, technology and engineering companies. Invitations will also be sent to women working in or contemplating a career in technology. Experts in international business development will also be in attendance. In addition, there will be executive level speakers, panel presentations targeted for women at every stage of their professional career, and information from state agencies about resources to help launch them to increasingly successful careers in high tech fields.
"This year we are proud to honor a woman and legend in technology, Jean Jennings Bartik, one of the six original ENIAC programmers. In 1945, Ms. Bartik didn't know what an amazing impact she would have on the world of technology both then and now," states Claudia Morrell, CEO of MDWIT. This year's conference keynote speaker is one of Baltimore's own, Sheila Heinze, the founder of SM Consulting, Inc., a four time honoree of the INC 500 List. Ms. Heinze will share her incredible story of endurance, talent, and the challenges faced while building a multinational company primed for selling - and that she did.
Private sector leaders, education experts, and government officials all understand that a woman's decision to enter, work, and lead in aerospace, technology, engineering and manufacturing fields is critical to ensure continued economic growth in Maryland's technology industries. The event sessions, speakers and attendee dialogue will directly impact both Maryland's and the nation's existing technology workforce issues and lay the groundwork for future solutions.
