Really, is there "No Direction Home," Bob Dylan? An Omission in Martin Scorsese's Film is Corrected by an Environmentally Sound, Holistic Education and Counseling Alternative

The Martin Scorsese film, 'No Direction Home,' about Bob Dylan, fails to report the direction to a home that we each share with Dylan," says Dr. Michael J. Cohen, Director of Project NatureConnect at the Institute of Global Education in Friday Harbor, Washington.

"The film is excellent," Cohen says, "But it omits that Dylan has lost direction due to a lack of sensory contact with the global life community, our home on Planet Earth. This is not Dylan's fault. Our society is excessively disconnected from nature, however, the film could have helped us correct that breach. Many experts note that we are dysfunctional personally, socially and environmentally because we are cut off and isolated from the world of nature and the natural."

Cohen is the author of ten published educating and counseling with nature books as well as several recordings dedicated to folk music. He comes from a folk singing family that includes his brother, John Cohen, of the New Lost City Ramblers (the Uncle John in "Uncle John's Band," who participates in the Dylan film and who filmed Dylan's early years).

"We are liable and suffer from the destructive effects caused by the exclusion of nature from our thinking," said Cohen. He has attempted to make up for Dylan's omission by placing two articles for public use on special Internet pages. Cohen invites the public to read, review, re-publish, share or link to these articles to help offset the oversight of the Dylan film. The articles describe a practical, nature-connected path home to personal and environmental well-being as illustrated through traditional songs and their stories and in the healing sensory science of thinking and feeling with natural systems.

The tools offered in the articles are accredited, subsidized antidotes to many dysfunctions and are readily available in books, online degree programs and Continuing Education Unit courses. They help us find directions to our home by enabling our consciousness to discover these direction in nature. In actuality, the directions are blowing in the wind.
