/24-7PressRelease/ - EDMONTON, AB, CANADA, November 03, 2005 ~ Canadian singer-songwriter Alexia Melnychuk, with her unique lyrics and sensational voice, will officially release her debut CD, Flying Machine, on November 16th, 2005.
Flying Machine is an incredible collection of unique lyrics and unforgettable melodies filled with honesty, insight and emotion. Songs include Look at You, Home, Diamonds, Everything, and the title song, Flying Machine. The mandolin and fiddle, played by Tyler Vollrath, add a wistful harmony to Melnychuk's exquisitely wrought melodies, while piano and organ accompaniment are provided by David Aide.
Alexia Melnychuk was born and raised in rural Alberta and has called Edmonton her home for the past decade. She grew up on good ole boys like Johnny Cash and Don Williams, with a little Nana Mouskouri and Janis Joplin thrown in for good measure. Melnychuk has been playing guitar and singing from the age of ten, and since graduation, she has actively pursued a career in the music industry. For the past ten years, she has performed professionally, honing her skills as a performer and songwriter. In the fall of 2004, she began the recording process, and her long-awaited debut with 5 original songs is the result.
Samson Chui, Editor in Chief of S2Stars Guide To... Magazine says, "This track is reminiscent of the Indigo Girls with a touch of Lucinda Williams, powerful and melancholy all at once, the only regret this reviewer has is that right when we begin this ethereal journey with Flying Machine, it ends and leaves us wanting a bit more of Melnychuk's lyrical musing..."
Mystery author Cheryl Kaye Tardif—an absolute fan of Melnychuk's music—states, "Flying Machine is a soulful mix of folk, pop and country that will bring trios like The Dixie Chicks and Wilson Phillips to mind. Yet what's so amazing is that this is ONE unique Canadian voice, not three."
The Flying Machine Release Party will take place at the Blue Chair Cafe, 9624-76 Ave., Edmonton, AB at 7:00 pm. Accompanying Melnychuk for the evening will be local musicians Ron Taylor and Tyler Vollrath. Come out for an exciting evening of music and relaxation.
