Liz embarked on a career in the human resources industry while working at an accountancy firm. Her boss at that time believed that women did not suit the field of Human Resources. Inspired by this challenge, Liz became determined to make a difference and make sure women were not overlooked in this field. After 25 years, Liz continues her success in the HR field, which is now mainly dominated by females.

Tagara Builders is a commercial construction company that has built a number of spectacular buildings across South Australia both in metropolitan and regional areas. The company is well respected and has been recognized in the construction industry for over 20 years. Tagara Builders have extensive experience building multi-storey, high-rise apartments, offices, schools, aged care facilities, and prisons, just to name a few. They have a minor works and maintenance division which provides upgrades, building and fit out services. As a true generalist HR Manager with many years of experience in industrial relations, employee relations and performance management, Liz has implemented a number of successful strategies and initiatives and has worked for small, medium and large organizations.

Before working for Tagara Builders, Liz was employed in local government for 11 years, in a number of industries at the national and local level. She attributes her success and longevity in her profession to her perseverance, belief in herself, studies, hard work and determination. Liz also credits her good listening skills, positive attitude and happy disposition to her success. Accomplished in her field, she is particularly proud of her level of education, which she pursued despite the lack of encouragement and support as Liz finished high school at a time when higher education for women was not encouraged.

Determined to make a difference, Liz is pursuing a master's degree in Human Resource Management at Deakin University. Keeping her skills and experience current in her industry, she is a member of a number of professional associations, including the Master Builders Association and the Australian Human Resources Institute. In the next two years, Liz aspires to continue to work in the area of Human Resources and may even consider a HR Director role in some exotic place in the world to further expand her career and experience. Away from work, Liz volunteers her time as a community assessor for aspiring student doctors and dentists. She enjoys traveling, brain teaser puzzles, relaxing and spending time with family and friends.
