Michael Andel established Gulf Coast LED Lighting, LLC in 2010 and partnered with Don Richards in early 2011 to bring green, energy saving solutions to area businesses and residences. It is their mission to lower their clients' building operation costs by 50 - 80% through the use of LED technology. Known for his integrity and problem solving abilities, Mr. Andel assumes the responsibility for overseeing the company's accounting, management and marketing concerns. Mr. Andel is former U.S. Army helicopter and fixed-wing aircraft pilot, and maintenance and safety officer, with 22 years of service. He completed one tour in Vietnam and spent six years in Germany. He then worked as a DC-9 airline Captain for 15 years. Upon his retirement from the aviation industry, he was introduced to 100% recyclable LED luminaries by a friend and colleague. He then partnered with Don Richards, another retired member of the military, who also had 25 years of experience in the technology field with AT&T and NCR.

He is a member of the Gulf Breeze Chamber of Commerce and is a member of the board of directors and treasurer of the United Pensacola Association as well as a board of directors member and is a member of the board of directors and comptroller of finances for The Krewe of Lafitte, the largest all male Mardi Gras Krewe in the Florida Panhandle. Additionally, he serves as president of the Polynesian Isles Home Owners Association.

For his military service, Mr. Andel was awarded the Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Bronze Star, two Meritorious Service Medals, two Army Commendation Medals, Air Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Good Conduct medal, Armed Services Reserve Medal, Legion of Merit and National Defense Service Medal. The highlights of this time in his life include traveling with three Overseas Service Ribbons, teaching leadership, Safety and technical maintenance skills, becoming a Master Army Aviator and Chief Warrant Officer Four.
