BOSTON, MA, December 15, 2016 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Cameral Music is thrilled to announce a rare U.S. appearance of renowned German countertenor singer Andreas Scholl. With the support of Goethe-Institut Boston and Boston University's Center for Early Music Studies and Wellesley College, this very special afternoon concert will take place Sunday, April 23, 2017 from 3:00pm - 4:00pm at Old South Church, 645 Boylston Street, in Boston, Massachusetts. The music will be followed by a meet-and-greet and CD signing.

This Boston premiere of the intimate Desiring Beauty program features Andreas Scholl accompanied by virtuosi American musicians Victor Coelho (lute), David Dolata (theorbo) and Laura Jeppesen (viola da gamba). It will follow a Society for Seventeenth Century Music annual conference gala at Providence College on April 21, and a series of Boston University masterclasses.

Focused on 17th Century Music, Desiring Beauty highlights will include John Dowland and Thomas Campion songs, as well as George Frideric Handel's Nel Dolce Tempo cantata. The new program - a one-hour presentation without intermission that Scholl has built in consultation with scholar/lutenist Coelho and composer/producer Ari Frankel - bares Scholl's voice as it has rarely been heard live before.
