PHENIX CITY, AL, September 17, 2024 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Kenneth Funderburk with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Kenneth Funderburk celebrates many years' experience in his professional network and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Driven to pursue a career in service to others, Mr. Funderburk joined the military as a young man, serving as a private second class in the United States Army, where he served as a chaplain's assistant, became qualified as an interrogator, and established and directed the only female choir within the branch at the time. Subsequently, he received a Bachelor of Arts in sociology from Howard College and pursued master's degree coursework in the same discipline at Mississippi State University. Through his studies, Mr. Funderburk developed a passion for law. He switched courses from sociology, earning a JD in banking, corporate, finance, and securities law from the University of Alabama in 1965.

Upon graduating from law school, Mr. Funderburk became licensed to practice through the Alabama State Bar Association, the United States District Court for the Middle District of Alabama, the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit, and the Supreme Court of the United States, where he presented a case regarding the termination of a pregnant woman from her employment. His testimony before the Supreme Court resulted in nine legal amendments. Over the years, Mr. Funder gained valuable professional expertise as the chairman of a savings and loan establishment, a part-time county attorney in Russell County, Alabama, and a motel operator in Fort Walton Beach, Florida, where he and a business partner embarked on annual 30-day sailing voyages across the Caribbean.

In addition to running Funderburk Law Group, where he specializes in personal injury law, Mr. Funderburk is a successful real estate developer and co-owns a pawnshop chain that operates in five states. This business venture became one of his favorites to run alongside his firm, adding another layer to his multifaceted career. Throughout his legal career, he has overseen cases that established precedents in real estate law and assisted with the construction of various courthouse extensions in Russell County, Alabama, during his tenure with the county.

Driven by a deep sense of responsibility towards his community, Mr. Funderburk has actively participated in various community service initiatives. He has served his community through the local Republican party, the area chapter of Rotary International, and Howard College, where he established a choir at the age of 19. His commitment to serving others is truly inspiring. Since 2017, Mr. Funderburk has also authored several books, including "Medusa's Lair: A Chic Sparks – Fish House Gang Novel" and "The Fish House Gang," which stem from two of his notable cases.

While his career has been filled with highlights, Mr. Funderburk takes the most pride in litigating the country's first ethanol case. The jury determined that Shearson Loeb Rhoades, Inc. had negligently misrepresented to the plant owners that it would secure permanent financing by underwriting industrial development bonds. The trial spanned six months and secured the largest verdict in Iowa. His fearlessness and dedication to his work are truly impressive. In the coming years, Mr. Funderburk intends to preserve the legacy of his law firm and continue fostering his passion for painting.
